Capital Americana Leaves WAMU

February 10, 2015

My name was mentioned in the Washington Post for the first time last week! My radio show, along with Mary Cliff’s and Echo Propp’s was cut from the Washington, D.C. airwaves. Hopefully next time I get a Google Alert it will be for something more fun!

After 9 wonderful years, my work with NPR affiliate WAMU has ended. I joined the station in 2005, as the Web Producer for Bluegrass Country, in charge of their small internet-only bluegrass radio channel. As Music Content Manager, I was able to help the station the station grow into an award-winning HD radio service with live hosting and expand to 105.5 FM as well. Our work creating a station with live in-studio performances lives on and is one of the biggest assets to the DC bluegrass and roots music community.

As a Host, I am sad to see Capital Americana leave the line-up of WAMU’s Bluegrass Country. However, I know that the foundation that I helped Bluegrass Country build will carry on. I’m particularly encouraged by the great content on WAMU’s Bandwidth… perhaps that will be the next generation of music coverage for WAMU.

Growing up in Gaithersburg, MD, I have a special place in my heart for the music that WAMU has provided over the years and am proud to have been a part of that legacy.
