It was a thrill to spend three full days last week working at Cacophony Recorders studio to record some of my favorite songs. At last count there are over 25 songs that I’ve not recorded in any formal fashion, so the selection process has been difficult.

Working with Fat Fuse producers Grant Johnson and Christopher Cox, we got the bones for seven songs recorded over those three days.

We tracked drums, bass, guitar, and keys on Stars, Amphibious Heart, Roses & Hail, Last Night Dreaming, Dear July, This World, Go On My Love, and even a little untitled interlude.

It was so satisfying to hear a full band sound on Last Night Dreaming in particular (here’s the guitar-only version). I wrote the song with a full band sound in my head and hearing that realized for the first time was magical!

We’re giving our ears a rest over the holidays and will get back at it in 2015. Can’t wait for you to hear the finished product!
